Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . We did our best to stay on top of all the schoolwork this week, and were pretty successful for a change. Even though Kennady wasn't feeling well at the beginning of the week. I guess in a way that helped, because she decided she wasn't well enough to go to work on Tuesday, so possibly she got just a little more schoolwork done than usual. She did have to scramble a bit to get her essay finished on time for Writing class which was a bit unusual.

This week we had our Open House and open registration for the 2018-2019 co-op. I registered Kennady for  four classes and she claimed that she hadn't wanted one of them so we'll see how that turns out. She's definitely taking Creative Writing and French II.

Other news . . . Last Friday evening we went to a Crowder concert in Shippensburg and it was amazing!

The rest of the weekend was low-key. The guys were working and I started shopping (without much success so far) for a new bedframe. This week has been full of the usual kinds of busy. Landon worked late some days and even had to miss Civil Air Patrol on Tuesday because he didn't get home from work on time.

Wednesday was Pi Day so yes, we ate pie! Whoopie pies for breakfast, pizza pie for lunch, tourtiere for dinner, and cherry pie for dessert. You can find my recipe for French-Canadian Tourtiere here: Favorite Pi(e) Recipes for Pi Day

Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day so I'll be making Barm Brack tonight, and we'll plan on Lucky Charms for breakfast! Our silly St Patty's Day tradition. Likely some other Irish foods tomorrow as well, because why not? You can find my Barm Brack recipe here: A Taste of Europe - St Patrick's Day. I'm hoping that I'll be lucky enough on St Patrick's Day to get a bed purchased!

What's Coming Up . . . Well, although my blog is experiencing a bit of a lull in reviews for the Homeschool Review Crew, the rest of the Crew has reviews coming your way regularly. I'll be posting a review in a couple of weeks that is pretty exciting - Homeschool Diploma has sent us a personalized diploma that I'll be able to present to Kennady next year. We were lucky enough to be able to review for Homeschool Diploma when Landon graduated too, so if you want to check out that review, you'll find it here: Diplomas for Homeschool Grads

I recommend . . .  SchoolhouseTeachers.com History courses - there are new ones, and a brand new key to help you see at a glance which ones are high school, interactive, video, etc.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Wordless Wednesday - Irish Coffee
Recent Reads - A Light on the Hill
Scripture and a Snapshot - Rain Down

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed A Light on the Hill (Cities of Refuge) by Connilyn Cossette, and I've been reading:

As Death Draws Near (A Lady Darby Mystery) by Anna Lee Huber
Keturah (The Sugar Baron's Daughters) by Lisa T. Bergren
The Weaver's Daughter: A Regency Romance Novel by Sarah E. Ladd

A parting shot . . . Landon with some of his new toys. He's so grown-up!

So many great Pi ideas... I kind of forgot at the last minute that it was pie day and almost dropped the ball entirely. Luckily we remembered by mid afternoon and I made pizza pie for dinner with some chocolate pie for dessert.

I remember making that Tourtiere last year when we were learning about Canada. It was really good.
Thanks for the link up.
